The Sportsman of the year award is a rotating silver bowl held in possession of the winner of this prestigious award for one year. This family heirloom was donated in honor of H Merlon Wood who was noted for the time and effort he spent in the sport of field trialing. Member clubs can nominate one individual for this award annually. This is a written nomination and must show the qualifications of the individual being considered. The Board of Directors shall vote on the nominees as presented. This award is presented at the summer meeting of FTCI.
SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR 2010
JEFF
WAGONER The Sportsman of the Year is to go to a person who displays integrity, knowledge, and willing to share that knowledge as well as promote field trialing and encourage newcomers to join our ranks and enjoy field trialing. Jeff Wagoner meets these qualifications and is deserving of the Sportsman of the Year. He has served as the backbone of the Mid State Field Trial Club, has resurrected the Illinois Shooting Dog Championship, handles the raffle at the DOTY banquet, and promotes the youth by hosting the Junior Handler Event. Jeff has never turned down any task asked of him and is devoted to helping FTCI grow.
